Karnac Publishing (London, England) announces the release of “Outpatient Treatment of Psychosis”.  This edited volume consists of nine original essays by seasoned psychoanalysts describing different aspects of the treatment of psychotic individuals in private practice settings.  I’m not sure if I’d classify myself as “seasoned”….but, for good or ill, the final chapter, “A Jungian Approach to the Interpretation and Treatment of Delusions in Adolescence”, was eagerly penned by yours truly.

“Outpatient Treatment of Psychosis” provides compelling Outpatent Treatment of Psychosis, 2017evidence for the effectiveness of classical Freudian, Neo-Freudian, and Jungian models of psychotherapeutic treatment of this most difficult of patient populations, therapies conducted in private practice, outside of the hospital and community mental health centers in which these individuals are commonly found.

The volume is an all-too-rare compilation of the collected thoughts of a dying breed of psychoanalytically-oriented clinicians, who stubbornly continue to believe that authentic human relatedness can make all the difference in addressing the hopeless misery of psychosis.
